This is primarily aimed at people gearing up for open world and lower-level/casual fractals. Rabid is the best choice after Sinister, keeping its high Condition Damage and enough precision to reliably proc traits, and only giving up a bit of power in exchange for some extra survivability. That means the Condition Damage you lose hits you really hard, and you're better off picking another stat with primary Condition Damage even if it means losing out on an offensive stat entirely. After all, it's just Sinister with a different primary stat, it should be almost as good, right? Unfortunately, most condi builds scale extremely poorly with power and only have mediocre precision scaling (mostly in the form of 33% chance of bleed on critical hit traits). Rampager looks like easily the best cheap alternative. Rampager is better if you're letting your phantasms do most of the work, while Viper/Rabid will win if you start applying more conditions with your own attacks, which don't scale meaningfully with your precision. Mesmer is the one class where Rampager is not only a potential consideration for budget builds, but even came up for debate as a meta option. I deliberately used a lazy rotation for Mirage, letting phantasms do a higher percentage of my DPS This artificially inflated Rampager's damage, since pistol phantasms scale very well with crit chance. The increased condi damage from Rabid was a big winner, netting over 1.5k DPS easily, though it fell quite short of Viper numbers. Soulbeast is probably the least crit-reliant of condi classes, having only a 33% bleed-on-crit to make it worthwhile. It should affect all builds equally though, so I didn't re-do the tests.ĭespite Furious Surge in conjunction with a 33% bleed-on-crit giving the build a higher-than-average reliance on crit chance, Rabid noticeably outperformed Rampager by over 500 DPS, and both builds were surprisingly close to Viper's values, with even Rampager losing only 6% damage. I forgot to add conditions to the golem for this class, so DPS is on the low side. These aren't benchmark attempts, I aimed for more reproducible rotations rather than max DPS ones I did three runs on the golem (4mil for buffed, 1mil for unbuffed) and counted final DPS for each run Weapons and accessories remained the same I also replaced the runes with 4 Tempest/2 Trapper combo to partially make up for the missing condition duration (I didn't want to waste Nightmare runes for the test, sorry!) I chose three classes for my test: DPS Condi Warrior, Condi Soulbeast, and Condi Mirageįor each class, I replaced their normal armor, backpiece, amulet, and rings with the desired stat combo. After getting in a discussion the other day about the relative merits of the Rampager stat set versus Rabid as a cheap stand-in for Viper's armor while working on gearing up a character, I decided to buckle down and do some science.
